Must-visit Sites

Petra is undoubtedly Jordan's crown jewel and one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world. Known as the “Rose City” due to the pinkish hue of its sandstone cliffs, Petra was once the thriving capital of the Nabatean Kingdom around the 4th century BC. As you walk through the narrow, winding Siq (a canyon-like passage), the grand Treasury (Al-Khazneh) emerges at the end, offering a breathtaking first glimpse of this ancient city carved into the rock. The site is a labyrinth of impressive tombs, temples, and monuments, all designed with extraordinary craftsmanship. Visitors can explore the well-preserved Roman-style theatre, the Royal Tombs, the Monastery (Ad-Deir), and the intricate water management system that sustained the city in its prime. Petra isn’t just a place to marvel at history—it’s an experience that immerses you in the magic of the ancient world, especially when seen at sunrise or sunset when the light casts a golden glow on the stone.

Almaty, the former capital and Kazakhstan's largest city, is a vibrant blend of modernity and nature. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Tian Shan Mountains, Almaty offers both cultural experiences and outdoor adventures. Visitors can take a cable car up to Kok Tobe, a hill offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. In winter, Almaty becomes a gateway to skiing and snowboarding in the nearby Shymbulak Ski Resort. During the summer months, the mountains become a haven for hiking, trekking, and exploring picturesque lakes like Big Almaty Lake, which is framed by dramatic peaks. The city itself is home to lively markets, like the Green Bazaar, where you can sample fresh local produce, and cultural institutions like the Zenkov Cathedral and the Central State Museum. Almaty beautifully marries cosmopolitan comforts with access to some of Central Asia’s most breathtaking natural beauty.

Located in Bethlehem, the Church of the Nativity marks the birthplace of Jesus Christ and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Christians worldwide. The church’s origins date back to the 4th century and, despite the tumult of history, it remains an active place of worship. The highlight of the church is the Grotto of the Nativity, a small cave beneath the altar that is believed to be the exact spot where Jesus was born. Visitors often descend into the grotto, where they can see a silver star marking the sacred place. The church’s ancient mosaics, Byzantine architecture, and the quiet reverence of the site create an unforgettable spiritual experience. For those visiting the West Bank, this site offers a deep connection to the Christian faith and the rich history of the region.
